Jonses line includes over a dozen gold plated pieces inspired by Egyptian pyramids. Aid to Artisans is an international nonprofit that partners with designer brands to provide work opportunities for low-income artisans around the world. The organization provides business training, product development, and market access, which helps enhance business opportunities. The best part…..100% of the profits are donated to this cause.

The time is here, the time is now….. At this moment it is… 11:11 on 11-11-11. It is said that sequential 1s have deep and great meaning. The thought is when you see 1:11, 11:11 or 11-11-11, that it is a reminder that the Earthly Guardian Angels are communicating that they are here in our presence and here to guide, protect, love and help us through everyday life here on this beautiful planet that we know as Earth. A GALLON A DAY…….

to keep the fat away…

One of the easiest changes you can make to your daily routine for increased weight loss is making sure your body is properly hydrated! At execuSlim, we recommend our patients drink a minimum of a gallon of water a day.  If your body is properly hydrated, it can focus on burning fat for energy and really helping you shed those pounds.  Staying hydrated reduces/prevents water retention and that dreaded bloated feeling.  Proper hydration can also help prevent constipation and help you feel lighter naturally.  Sometimes you may think you are hungry when really your body is thirsty.  Always down a 16oz glass of water and wait fifteen minutes before raiding the pantry.

The best way to get a gallon of water down a day is to break it up.  Start with a liter bottle and aim to drink one by 10 am, one by 12 pm one by 4pm and the last before bed!

80% for Fuel, 20% for pleasure!

Most Americans eat for pleasure. Social events are all centered around food or meals, and most of us reward ourselves with treats and sweets. This is an excellent way to pack on the poundage! If you are looking to lose weight you need to change your food philosophy and follow these two simple principles…

#1 The main reason you should eat is for fuel

#2 Everything you eat doesn’t have to be the most amazing thing you have ever tasted.

In a perfect world you should eat 80% of the time for fuel and 20% of the time for pleasure.

At execuSlim we train our patients during the acute, losing phase to eat 100% of the time for fuel, to get the weight off, and then switch to the 80-20 philosophy to maintain results.  With most of us being guilty of eating closer to 80% of the time for pleasure, it’s no wonder we all wouldn’t mind losing a few pounds.  Every meal cannot be a party if you want to keep the weight off and especially not if you want to lose weight. It’s important to learn the difference between eating for fuel and eating for fun.

OUR FATHER WHO…..

We all have those evenings where we can’t sleep….we lay there thinking about all the things we have to do. Then comes the stress and anxiety…. And now with the shortened days and lack of sunshine our adrenals are cranking out the stress hormones. What’s a stressed out fatigued Boy or Girl to do? PRAY…. Yes, you heard me PRAY…..

According to Harold G. Koening, M.D. and author of “Medicine Religion and Health,” “Prayer is incredibly calming and healing, so it dampens the stress-hormone output in minutes.”  Praying for five minutes twice is day is all it takes to help quiet the symptoms of anxiety and stress. On the floor? Brazilian designer Andreia Chaves takes fashions to another level with her unique footwear created from unconventional material. Drawing inspiration from Sao Paulo where she was raised and then perfecting form, texture, and visual effects during her studies in Florence, Chaves designs reflect chaos…. literally. The “invisible shoe” is an asymmetrical mirrored low cut boot, reflecting its surroundings appearing chameleon like. The rest of her work is just as interesting including heels made from leather and sycamore wood cubes, a collection of footwear that is truly the cutting edge of fashion.

THE WHOOPIE

Hey kids….. Around seven years ago…. I had my first official trip to the state of Maine. After dropping off my son at camp, I stopped in a tiny convenience store and fell madly in love for the very first time with the….. “Whoopie Pie.” It was the most moist and delicious morsel that had ever graced my lips. A chocolate cake sandwich with a cream filling that just about bowled me over.

Today they can be found in bakeries and grocery stores all over the country, but if you want the real deal…. You must seek out in Maine. I have found a “Whoopie Bakery”  that ships all over the good ole US of A….. with flavors that will delight even the most hardened and snobbish foodie. This Fall….Cranberry Island Kitchen is offering the Pumpkin Pie Whoopie…. What a great way to celebrate the changing of the leaves……

TO LOSE WEIGHT….

Sumo wrestlers are a great example of why small, frequent meal can be more beneficial when trying to lose weight! The diet of a sumo wrestler is fairly simple and far too familiar to many execuSlim patients we see in our office. A sumo wrestler does not eat breakfast or lunch, just one LARGE meal at night.  Not eating all day causes overeating and forces the body to store the extra calories as fat.  The food that a sumo wrestler eats is not that fattening on its own, it’s the mass quantity being consumed at that one meal that helps pack on the pounds.  Many people who are trying to lose weight find themselves “too busy to eat” or not feeling hungry until much later in the day.  How counter intuitive is it to eat when you are NOT hungry? Especially when trying to lose weight? But actually that is the best thing you can do.  Eating small, more frequent meal through the day (even if you are not hungry) is the best possible thing you can do for your body and defiantly will help prevent binging later! When dieting, most people try not to eat until they get hungry because they are trying to “save” the calorie intake for when they really want it… as you can tell this can be a HUGE or should I say SUMO mistake!

Sumo style eating is without a doubt one of the most common mistakes I see patients make.  You need to eat when you ARE NOT hungry. Don’t wait until you are starving, that is when you make bad decisions and portion size gets out of control. At some point when hunger sets in and you finally eat, all you are doing is dumping a bunch of calories into your body, spiking insulin levels and causing your body to store fat! Following a Sumo diet plan is the perfect way to GAIN weight. Moral of the story is you must eat 1-HOUR AFTER WAKING and have a small protein snack WITHIN 1 HOUR OF BED. Keep that metabolism cranking!
